Gurdwara Sri Shatranj Sahib is situated the Bassian village.
When the site of Gurdwara Sri Shatranj Sahib was being dug by 3 Singh's on 14th March 1933, a small earthen pot was discovered.
The Singh's threw away the pot thinking it was worthless. When the pot broke it revealed 32 old chess pieces with 4 pieces of paper. The writing is shown on Pictures 15 and 16.
It is said that Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited this place in 1705, while coming from Machhiwara, Alamgir, Raikot, Lamma and other villages.
Guru Sahib played Shatranj (Chess) with Rai Kallan, the Pathan chief of Raikot, at this place, hence the name of the Gurdwara.
Guru Ji went towards Siloani from here and left the chess pieces with Bhai Basso who was living here.
Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji also visited here and stayed here for a few hours before travelling on.
