Gurdwara Sri Khichri Sahib is situated in the Balbera village in the Patiala district.
When Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was visiting the nearby village of Karhali Sahib, Guru Ji cured a man suffering from leprosy.
The news soon spread around the area and people started visiting Guru Hargobind for his darshan and blessing.
One particular old lady who came to see Guru Hargobind found that Guru Ji had left Karhali Sahib. The lady followed Guru Hargobind and caught up with Guru Ji at the site of this Gurdwara.
The old lady had brought gifts of Khichri (food) which she gave to Guru Hargobind. Guru Hargobind blessed the old lady before travelling on.
It is said that while Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was travelling towards Delhi, Guru Ji also stopped here before arriving in Cheeka.
