Bhai Bhagmal was a resident of village Sur Singh and as a Sikh invited Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji to visit.

When Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji arrived, Bhai Bhagmal offered his newly built house and 1000 Bigha of land to Guru Hargobind to stay and make village Sur Singh his home and spread the message of Sikhi from here.

Guru Hargobind accepted the offering but said that as Guru he had many things to do and could not stay at any one place for too long but promised that one day a Sikh kendar to preach Sikhi would be here.

Later Guru Hargobind gave this property to Baba Lal Chand, the son of Bhai Bidhi Chand, and asked him to stay and set up a Sikh kendar here, as promised to Bhai Bhagmal.

From that day onwards Baba Lal Chand started living at village Sur Singh. Now Baba Daya Singh, from the family of Bhai Bidhi Chand is living here at continuing the spread of Sikhism.
