Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji came to Bahir Jachchh from village Dhamtan with his family. A carpenter named Mala bowed in front of Guru Ji and took him and his family to his home.

Mala served Guru Ji and the women served Mata Gujri Ji, Mata Jito Ji and the other women with Guru Sahib. Mala talked with Guru Tegh Bahadur for the whole night.In the morning, Guru Tegh Bahadur had a bath and carried out nitnem path.

The villagers assembled and prayed in front of Guru Tegh Bahadur and explained that they were a very poor people. They asked Guru Tegh Bahadur to help them to get relief from their miserable lives.

Guru Tegh Bahadur told them to stop using tobacco and said that their lives would improve afterwards. The villagers said that they were addicted to tobacco and could not stop using it.

Guru Tegh Bahadur explained that if they stopped using tobacco that same day, then their poverty would end at the same time. Guru Ji explained that at some point his Sikhs would arrive and this location would become a tirath.

It is said that whoever takes a bath for 12 Masya in this sarovar their wishes will become fulfilled. Guru Tegh Bahadur stayed at Mala's home for three days and two nights.

Guru Tegh Bahadur relieved a man named Tirlok Das of his problems and then left to go towards Kaithal.
