1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Statements

1984 Statements

Statement submitted before the Nanavati Commission

Witness No. 172

Name : Ms Vrinda Grover

Age :

Occupation : Advocate

Address : N – 14A, Saket, New Delhi.

On SA

As stated in my Affidavit, which I am producing before the Commission today, I have done research study on the responses of the legal system to the incidents of violence in October – November, 1984. (The affidavit is taken on record. Copies of judgements and affidavits are also taken on record and they are collectively given as Ex. No.W172/1).

Cross examination by S.S. Gandhi, Senior Advocate on behalf of Delhi Police

Whatever I have stated in my affidavit is based on a study of the judgement and I have not gone through the original record of those cases. I had inquired if appeal was filed in any case and wherever the judgements of the appellate courts wee available, I had gone through them as part of my study.

I do not know in how many cases appeals were filed and were pending and information in all such cases was not available. I am aware that in the case referred to in para 12 of the Affidavit matter had gone right upto the Supreme Court. I am also aware that in the case referred to in para 15 of the Affidavit matter had gone right upto the Supreme Court.

No cross examination by Ashok Kashyap, Advocate on behalf of Central Government

Read over and found correct.
