1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Statements

1984 Statements

Statement submitted before the Nanavati Commission

Witness No. 45

Name : Ms Bakshish Kaur

Age : 65 Years

Occupation : House Wife

Address : C-56, DDA Flats, Garhi, New Delhi.

On SA

I had filed an affidavit before this Commission. It is shown to me. It bears my thumb impression. The affidavit is taken on record and marked as Exhibit No.W45/1. In addition to what I have stated in my affidavit I say that Yamuna River was about 200 yards away from house where I was staying in November, 1984. About 15 or 16 Sikhs were killed in my locality.

Cross examination by S.S. Gandhi, Sr. Advocate on behalf of Delhi Police

I had not filed any affidavit earlier before any Commission or Committee. The police had recorded the complaint on the basis of what I had told them. Whatever was recorded in the FIR was read over to me. My son was with me when the FIR was lodged.

It is not correct to say that I had not told the police while lodging an FIR that two policemen were present there on the spot yet they did not help. It is true whatever was stated to the police was taken down by them.

No Cross examination by K.K. Sud, ASG on behalf of Central Government

Read over and found correct.
