Police Station Defence Colony

All India Institute of Medical Sciences is located in the area of this Police Station and it also covers affluent colonies like Defence Colony, Gulmohar Park, Kotla Mubarakpur, Andrews Ganj, Part of Safdarjung Flyover etc. There are two Police Posts- one at Kotla Mubarakpur and the other at Gulmohar Park.
Events
Incidents of violence started at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences when the President's car was stoned in the afternoon when he came to the institute where Indira Gandhi's body had been kept at that time.
This should have put the entire police force on alert but it failed to do so which is indeed tragic.
The incidents in the area of this Police Station continued from the afternoon of 31st October, 1984 till 2nd November, 1984. There were some incidents on 3rd November also when shops in Gautam Nagar were set ablaze.
