1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

Affidavit of S. Trilok Singh, age 60 years, s/o late S. Sunder Singh, Resident of Chowkhandi, Ram Nagar, WZ 19B, Ram Nagar, Delhi.

I, Trilok Singh solemnly affirm as under:-

1. That upto 31.10.1984, there was complete peace in this area. We had come to know of the death of our Prime Minister. We were all shocked.

2. That on 1.11.84, a mob comprising of about 200/300 persons came. On coming to know about this some of us assembled at Gurdwara Dheodi Sahib. The mob was raising slogans and trying to set houses on fire. Police also came after that.

3. That on seeing the police, we felt some relief but on getting down from the jeep, the police started beating us with sticks. I was performing voluntary service at Gurdwara at that time. I saw police beating with sticks. Due to police beating him with sticks, Kirpal Singh's turban fell down. Another Sikh fell down there and other ran away. Police took both the Sikhs in their jeep to police station.
