1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, S. Trilochan Singh, S/o Late S. Amolak Singh, aged about 53 yrs., R/o 26/178, West Patel Nagar, New Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1. That I was resident of H.No. 5327, Shora Kothi, Pahar Ganj, New Delhi-55, in November'84, when carnage against of Sikhs took place after the unfortunate assassination of Indira Gandhi.

2. That at that time I was also having a business in the name and style of Super Foams at shop No. 173, Punchkuian Road, New Delhi.

3. That in the afternoon of 1st November'84, I came to know that my shop was being looted by the rioters. On getting the news I sent my Hindu neigh borers to get my shop saved from being looted. I myself scared of going there since I had the news that the shop of Sahni Paints have been gutted by the rioters and the owners were also burnt alive in the shop and the rioters were killing Sikhs and looting their belongings.

4. That my Hindu neigh borers who went to save my shop from the rioters, could manage to save it to some extent and still the rioter could manage to loot the articles worth Rs. 93,150/- from my shop.

5. That I lodged a complaint with the Mandir Marg, Police Station in R/o the incidence of looting of my above said shop on 10-11-84, when the conditions became normal but nothing was done by the police. A Photostat copy of the complaint is also attached herewith.

6. That I filed a claim case in R/o the loss suffered by me in the riot before the claim settlement officer ( R – I ), Directorate of Relief and Rehabilitation DC, office, Room No.-274, Tis Hazari, Delhi but I received given no compensation at all from any Govt. Agency.

7. That I humbly request that I may please be suitably compensated.
