1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Tirlochan Singh S/o S. Inder Singh, R/o 4618, Arya Pura, Subzi Mandi, Delhi-110007, aged about 40 yrs., do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under: -

That I am old Congress (I) worker in the area and have been actively working for the party. The news of the assassination of our leader Indira Gandhi was highly shocking to me and my entire family and we held a solemn and humble condolence meeting to pray peace for the departed soul.

That on the morning of 1st November '84, at about 9 A.M., a strong group of about fifty persons all armed with lethal weapons like spears, knives, iron rods, etc., led by the following i.e.

1) Sanjay Jain, r/o Arya Pura, Subzi Mandi, Delhi.

2) Rajiv Sharma, r/o Arya Pura, Subzi Mandi, Delhi.

3) Inder Parkash Saini, Pehalwan who runs an Akhara in the area.

4) Vimal Jain of Arya Pura who runs a coal depot in the area.

5) Ram Babu Arya, r/o Malka Ganj and editor of paper 'Diler'.

6) Lachhi and Sadhu (both brothers) of our area.

broke open the locks of my shop T-447, a Khokha type shop, looted the goods and made a bonfire of some of the goods.

That after looting my shop completely these people attacked my house also. They burnt the gate and entered the house but somehow, I alongwith my family members managed to escape and save our lives through the rear door.

That I lodged a report of the incident with the P.S. Subzi Mandi, Delhi vide FIR No.633/84, dtd. 5-11-84 (photocopy annexed herewith). I also revealed the names of the culprits to the police officers in the P.S.

That despite my innumerable visits and requests to the police officers neither the culprits have been nabbed nor any recovery been affected by the police.

That I wrote registered A.D. letter to the Hon'ble President of India, the Prime Minister of India, the Home Minister, the Lt. Governor of Delhi, Police Commissioner (Delhi), DCP (North), Delhi narrating the whole incident with a prayer to take appropriate action in the matter but nothing has so far been done.
