1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, Surinder Singh S/o S. Darshan Singh, residing at A-24B Block-E Shivangi Kunj, opposite BGI Block, Paschim Vihar swear the following :-

1. That in November '84, I, and my family were residing RZ-H 15, Mahavir Enclave, Palam Village, New Delhi-110045.

2. That on 1st November '84, mob of 300 came at about 0900 am and first burn the Gurdwara of Mahavir Enclave. Then mob came to my house. As we saw the mob, my family and myself shifted to our neighbours house.

3. That our house was looted and burnt by the violent mob and they kept searching for us for three days. The total loss was Rs. 70,000/-

4. That from 1st November '84, to 3rd November '84, my family took shelter with our Hindu neighbour as great risk to them. I left my house and hid myself in fields.

5. That from there the family was rescued by the Air Force authorities and I joined them on 06-11-84.

6. That I was paid a sum of Rs. 20,000/- towards loss of my property and the house hold good.
