1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, Surinder Kaur W/o S. Harnam Singh aged 48 yrs. presently residing at 54/4, Hari Nagar Ashram (Near Shalimar Cinema) New Delhi, 110014, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1. That during Oct. / Nov. 1984, I was residing at 65-A, Hari Nagar Ashram, New Delhi, 110014 along with my husband and children.

2. That on 2-11-1984 in the afternoon at about 12.00 p.m., a violent mob broke open the lock of our house and looted all our household belongings and set fire to our house. They also beat up my husband mercilessly & he faced severe head & other injuries. He was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences on 2.11.84 & was hospitalized there. He is still unable to work properly & still feels the pains of those injuries. (The slips of the emergency department of the hospital are attached herewith).

3. That I suffered a loss of Rs.five lacs (Rs. 500,000/-) on account of loss of personal belongings. I lodged a report with the P.S.SrinivasPuri, District South, New Delhi wide FIR No. 12/93, DD No. 9-A dated 5.1.93 at 5.30 p.m. U/S 147, 148, 149, 395, 436, 307 IPC copy of which is enclosed.

4. That I haven't got any compensation so far from Govt. or any authorities.

5. That I am entitled to full compensation.
