1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Satwant Kaur, aged about 30 years w/o S. Pishora Singh, r/o C-39, DDA Flats, Slum Tenements, Garhi, New Delhi, do hereby on solemn affirmation state and declare as under: -

1. That I along with my family members were residing earlier at A-3/66, Nand Nagri, near Shahdara, Delhi at the relevant time.

2. That on 1-11-84 at about 10 AM about 2000 Non-Sikhs mob burnt Gurdwara and then attacked our house. In our street they were headed by Jamna Devi, with her sons Prabhu, Rattan, Pappu, Surender and Rajender, all Cong. (I) workers and others. After killing Jaswant Singh of A-3/65 and looting and burning his house, they attacked my house, killed my husband Ishar Singh, and then looted and burnt my house also.

3. My husband was killed and my house was looted and burnt by the above named persons and certain others.

4. My report was not recorded by the police as I was mentioning the names of the culprits.

5. I say that after my house was looted and burnt and my husband was killed. I was forcibly taken by Pappu and Rajender to the nearby ground where my ear rings of gold and gold ring were snatched by them and I was gang-raped by these two persons and three others whose names I do not know but I can identify them if they come before me. I mentioned this fact also to the police who turned blind eye to my complaint.

6. Please take action against the culprits and compensation be paid to me for the loss of my property more than 1.5 lakh rupees.
