1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Sarwan Singh s/o Bhagat Singh aged 37 years r/o Gali No. 13, House No. 1352-A, Govindpuri, Near Kalkaji, Delhi do hereby solemnly affirm and declare on oath as under:

1. That I am residing at the aforesaid address and at the relevant time I had a shop entitled"DHamHAN" situated at E-125/5 Mohammadpur, R. K. Puram, New Delhi-110022 carrying on the business of interior decorators.

2. That on 31st October, 1984 a strong group of about 200 persons attacked my shop. They were shouting anti-Sikh slogans and were being led by the following :

1) Paras Ram r/o Mohammadpur.

2) Bachan Singh s/o Paras Ram r/o Mohammadpur

3) Phakkar Singh s/o Bachan Singh r/o Mohammadpur

4) Suchinder s/o Kartar Singh @ Kartara r/o Mohammadpur.

5) Rajveer s/o Dataram r/o Mohammadpur.

I ran from my shop and hid myself beneath the staircase of the house in front of my shop wherefrom I could clearly see my shop, and the activities of the aforesaid.

3. That I saw these people stoning my shop, breaking open the locks and doors of my shop. They looted my shop entirely. They brought some articles from my shop outside and made a bonfire of the same.

4. That I went to the Police Station R. K. Puram (Chowki No. 4) and informed about the occurance and the name of the culprits but no action has so far been taken by them.
