1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, Santokh Singh, S/o S. Manna Singh, aged about 35 yrs., R/o 20 A/6B,TilakVihar, Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1. That in Nov.'84, I was residing in Flats No. Y-797 & 798, J.J. Colony, Nangloi, Delhi, along with my family consist of my wife and a daughter.

2. That on 1st Nov.'84, I came to know that then pm Indira Gandhi has been killed. Thereafter the mob attacked the houses of Sikh Community. The Granthi of local Gurdwara announced in the loud speaker requesting the Sikh Community to gather in the Gurdwara itself. However I myself along with my family member hide ourselves in the neighbours house of Hamid.

3. That the said local Gurdwara was attacked by the mob and the Sikhs gathered in the Gurdwara did not allowed the said mob took enter the said local Gurdwara.

4. That at about 12 o'clock on the same day one train from Rohtak side came and hundreds of person get down from the said train. Those persons who came from the Rohtak side directed the mob to kill all the Sikhs.

5. That those persons who came from Rohtak in the train they were having iron rods and they were so trained to kill a person by giving a one shot. Accordingly they killed the Sikh male members by giving one shot.

6. That when I was in the house of Hamid my house was also looted and burnt by the mob and I suffered a loss of about Rs.80,000/- in respect of my household articles as well as damaging my house.

7. That I came back to my house after 2 – 3 days and lodged and FIR with the police.

8. That I have not received any compensation in respect of loss my household articles as well as my house.
