1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Ram Singh son of S. Jagat Singh aged 60 years resident of House No.11, Ganeshi Dass Building, Raghubarpura No.1, Gandhi Nagar, Delhi-31, do hereby solemnly state on oath as under: -

1. We had shifted all our household goods at our new Kothi No.C-11, Ganga Vihar, Near Gokalpuri. This Kothi was to be inaugurated on November 9, 1984.

2. The mohalla people told us that a mob came on November 1, 1984 at about 11 AM, and attacked our bungalow. The mob first looted and plundered then set the bungalow ablaze.

3. We started from our house on November 8, 1984, when we reached our bungalow we found that whole of it was burnt down. There were no goods in it. Then we lodged a report with the police on November 9, 1984.

4. Praduman Chand Jain who resides opposite my bungalow (A-Block, Ganga Vihar) told me that the mob was led by Chowkidar Amaam Chand whom I had earlier dismissed from service because he was involved in stealing cement. It was he who pointed my bungalow to the mob and incited them to attack the bungalow as it belonged to a Sikh.

5. In this occurrence I suffered a loss of about Rs. 80,000/-.
