1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, Pritam Kaur, W/o Late S. Mohinder Singh, aged about 60 yrs., now residing at House No.19, Gali No.1, Adarsh Nagar, Delhi-110033, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1. That in Oct./Nov.'84, my late husband S. Mohinder Singh and children were staying at House No.19, Gali No.1, Adarsh Nagar, Delhi-110033.

2. That my husband was a transporter and owned agent of trucks.

3. That at about 6 pm on 1st Nov.'84, our house was attacked by a very large crowd. They set our truck No. DEG 5395 on fire.

4. That then the mob attacked S. Mohinder Singh, my husband. He was hit by lathis and iron rods. When he fell down kerosene was poured on him and set on fire. The mob heaped the bedding and furniture on him to start a good blaze. I was standing near by.

5. That the house was completely looted and destroyed that I and my children stood outside the house. Taking pity on our miserable state, our milk vender took us in his transport to Roshanara Road where we were accommodated by our relatives. I and my children stayed there for 8 months.

6. That on 7th Nov.84, I lodged an FIR with Adarsh Nagar, Police Station (copy attached). I suffered a loss of Rs.5, 42,000/-.

7. That I received compensation of Rs.3,50,000/- for the death of my husband.

8. That I pray that compensation for the loss suffered by me may kindly be ordered.
