1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Nathu Singh son of S. Adam Singh aged 60 years resident of 11/471, Kalyanpuri, New Delhi do hereby solemnly affirm and state on oath as under: -

1. On 1.11.1984, between 8.30 to 9 AM. 5 – 6 policemen came to my house. Out of them one police officer was having three stars. They asked me to give them my gun. I inquired what will they do with it. At this one policeman hit me with danda (stick) and the other aimed his pistol towards me. I got scared and handled over my gun to the police.

2. At about 1 or 1.30 PM disturbance started in our mohalla. Somebody escorted me and my children in our neighbour's house.

3. A mob attacked my house at about 6 – 7 PM. At that we were in the house of our neighbours. The men in the mob looted my house and thereafter set it ablaze.

4. I suffered a loss of about Rs.20,000/-.

5. My gun which was taken away by the police has not been restored to me till now. I have received a notice from the police whereby they have sought to cancel my gun license.
