1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, Nanaki Kaur, W/o Late S. Gagan Singh, aged 50 yrs., R/o 13/347, Kalyanpuri, Delhi-91, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1. That was staying at 13/347, Kalyanpuri, Delhi-91, since 1977. I am still staying at the above residence.

2. That my husband was doing business of Chatais at 13/414-415, Kalyanpuri, Delhi-91.

3. That in Nov.'84, I was staying at above address along with my husband and 7 children aged between 15 to 2 yrs.

4. That on 1st Nov.'84, at 9 am a mob of 250-300 came to our house. Immediately they started beating my husband by iron rods. He fell unconscious. The mob threw some white powder on him and put him on fire. His whole body except one leg was totally burnt.

5. That with great difficulty I was able to save the lives of my children by shifting to our neighbour's house who was a Dhobi.

6. That I received compensation of only Rs.5,000/- for household goods.

7. That I have received total compensation of Rs 3.5 lakhs for the death of my husband.

8. That I suffered a loss of Rs.2 lakhs in household goods. (FIR enclosed).
