1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, Mohinder Singh S/o Isher Singh aged about 57 yrs. R/o H-1/106, Vikas Puri, New Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1. That in Oct./ Nov.'84, I along with my family was residing at Y-841, J.J.colony, Nangloi No.1, with my wife and five children.

2. That I was a Kabari dealing in motor parts.

3. That on 1st Nov.'84, mob of 250 – 300 persons entered the colony and attacked the Gurdwara. Persons in the Gurdwara tried to defend the Gurdwara. I heard on the loud speaker, Granthi informing the sangat that mob is attacking the Gurdwara with stones / bricks. Sangat should reach Gurdwara immediately. I could not reach Gurdwara. I hid myself in neighbour's house.

4. That later a train stopped from Rohtak side came and stopped in front of the colony. Many persons got down from the train. They had iron rods and lathis in their hand. They immediately came to our colony and started attacking the Sikhs. Later I learnt that many Sikhs were killed. Somehow I escaped after hiding myself and my family members.

5. That I suffered a loss of Rs.1 lakh and I received compensation of Rs.5,000/-.

6. That I am entitled the full compensation.
