1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Mohan Singh, age 58 years, S/o S. Jiwan Singh was resident of 37/209, Banduke Katra, Agra. Now, I reside at H J-458A, Housing Board, Jagroan Road, Ludhiana. I was Chairman at COD. I retired in April '85, do hereby solemnly affirm and state on oath as under: -

1. My eldest son S. Narinder Singh, age 21 years was residing with my Mama Ji (uncle) at 20A, Chander Shekhar Azad Gali, Babarpur, Shahdara, and was working as a manager in Cheer Transport Company.

2. On 1st November, 84, my son and the son of my uncle, named Surinder Singh Puri, who was working as Head Librarian in Daya Nand College, seeing rioting alround, had gone to the police station Shahdara. On 3rd November morning, police jeep dropped them back at their house stating that now your house is safe.

3. After half an hour a mob came. The women staying right opposite the house came and asked my uncle's daughter-in-laws whose husband had been dropped back by the police, "Where is Puri Sahib." On being told that he was not at home, she stated that was incorrect as she had her self seen Puri Sahib came back to the house.

The mob, after hitting the three Sardars with iron rods, burnt them alive with petrol – together with Guru Granth Sahib and the scooter. I was conveyed the news of this by the in laws of my brother at Agra. The eye witnesses of this are my Mami (uncle's wife) and my uncle's daughter in law.
