1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

Affidavit of Manna Singh S/o S. Atma Singh, resident of Y-885/86, Nangloi, Delhi. Presently residing at WZ-12, New Shahpur, Delhi.

I solemnly affirm and declare as under: -

1. That a big mob entered our colony at about 11 am, on 1st November, 1984, and began stoning our houses. At about 1:30 / 1:45 pm, a train came from Bahadur Garh and stopped near the lavatories in Y-block.

Thousands of persons got out of the train, surrounded the houses and started burning the houses and killing people. My right arm was fractured by a stone. I suffered three head injuries and there were stitches on the head. I had become unconscious.

2. C.R.P. arrived at about 9 / 10 am, on 3-11-84, and we were removed to Nangloi police station. From there we went of our own to Gurdwara Bhatta Sahib in B-Block. I stayed for two months in the Gurdwara and for sometime in my in-laws house in B-Block, Tilak Nagar. My son Iqbal Singh aged 22 years was killed in riots in Nangloi.

3. The police did not help us during riots. On the contrary, they were inciting the rioters.
