1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Mahesh Sharma son of Shri Desraj Sharma, age 34 years, resident of Nimri Colony, Quarter No.77, Ashok Vihar, Delhi-52, swear and solemnly depose as under: -

1. I was at my residence. I came out of the house and saw the time was about 9 AM, that a very big crowd was coming. It numbered about 600 / 700. They had lathis, iron rods, canes of oil and something like white powder packets in their hands.

2. That some stones and bricks were lying there. They started throwing brickbats on that house. Then some persons set their scooter and car on fire. Then with sticks and iron rods, the crowd broke down their doors. Then they set the whole house on fire. Before setting the fire those people looted all what could be looted. All this time on that occasion two policemen armed with revolvers were presents. The residents of 617, to save their lives, climbed on to the roof.
