1. We felt very sad when we learnt on 31-10-84 about the tragic assassination of Indira Gandhi. Upto the evening of that day nothing untoward happened.
2. On 1-11-84 at about 9:00 am, I went to my shop and opened it. Then within 10 – 15 minutes I was told by a vegetable dealer to close my shop, because at many places shops of Sikhs were being burnt. When I decided to come home after closing my shop, I was told by another person to hide myself inside as Sikhs were being killed outside. I did so and hid myself in my shop after bolting it from inside.
3. On 1-11-84 at about 12 or 12:30 there was a loud noise outside my shop and the mob started pelting stones on my shop. They broke the door of my shop. I was injured in this stoning. The mob was making lot of noise. Our landlord Gian Chand and his two nephews were leading the mob. I recognized them. They asked me to come out. I came out and Gian Chand took me to his house. His nephews were also there at that time. They left me there but Gian Chand remained and he applied malham on my wounds.
4. Upto 8:00 pm I remained at Gian Chand's house. Then his son left me at my house.
5. On 1-11-84 my shop was plundered and my loss was of near about Rs.55 / 60 thousands.
6. I lodged a report at Karol Bagh Police Station on 4-11-84. When I enquired from policemen about the recovery of my luggage they asked me to came next day.
7. On 5-11-84 at about 10 – 11 am I reached Karol Bagh Police Station where recovered goods were collected and people were identifying their goods, and taking those away. At that time Dharam Dass Shastri had also reached there. I got very surprised to see him there. There I asked a Sikh Sub-Inspector as to why Dharam Dass Shastri was there. Then he told me that he (Dharam Dass Shastri) had come there to get those persons released who had been arrested in connection with riots. After sometime I returned home.
