I, Kulwant Kaur, aged 50 years, wife of S. Nanak Singh, r/o B-52, Gulab Bagh, New Delhi-59, do hereby on solemn affirmation state and declare as under: -
1. On 1-11-84, Non-Sikhs mob started killing Sikhs and looting their houses and then burning them.
2. On 2-11-84, a Non-Sikh mob of about 150 persons came to my house at about 3.30 am, led by one Raj Paul alias Palu, dealer of kerosene oil in our area at Matiala Road, New Delhi-59, attacked my house. Raj Paul loudly called my husband by name and directed him and family members to get out of the house as the house was to be looted and burnt. Seeing danger to our lives and threats of serious nature and the abuses which they were hurling on the Sikhs, we came out of the house seeing no other alternative to save ourselves.
3. Our scooter Lambretta was twice set on fire by Raj Paul himself but both times I put off the fire. They then looted our house and then set the same on fire. Paul then said that either my husband should get his hair clean shaved or otherwise he would be killed. My husband kept quite. Then under the order of Palu, the barber of the area clean shaved the male members / Sikhs.
4. I and my family members have suffered total loss of property to the tune of about 50 to 60 thousand. No compensation worth the name is given to me.
5. I say that his all arson and looting is carried out by the Non-Sikhs in the area with the active connivance and aid of the police of the area. The police did not take any action against this looting, arson, burning of houses and killing of people. The police was almost present at the time these offences were committed.
6. I say that Congress workers of the area are responsible for all this looting burning of property of Sikhs and killing of the Sikhs and the police was inactive as if such orders are issued to the police by the Government itself.
7. I can identify many of the members of this illegal mob and unlawful assembly who committed these crimes. Palu even distributed kerosene oil to the mob for burning the property of Sikhs.
