1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, Kuldeep Singh, S/o S. Harbans Singh, aged about 44 yrs., R/o A-1883, Jahangir puri, New Delhi-110033, do hereby on solemnly affirmation state and declare as under:-

1. That on 1st November, '84, I was running my shop situated at Shop No. 5/5, near Patiala Service Station, G.T. Karnal Road, Delhi-33, with name and style of M/s K.S. Auto Electric Works. I was proprietor of the said shop. I was the owner of the said premises.

2. That at about 11:30am on 1st November, '84, I was in my shop and I also saw some disturbances against the Sikh community near my shop. Consequently I shut down my shop and came back to my residence at Adarsh Nagar, New Delhi.

3. That subsequently I came to know that my said shop was burnt and looted by the mob. Due to this looting and burning I suffered a loss of about Rs. 45,000/-. I had lodged the police report with the police station at Adarsh Nagar, Delhi on 07-11-84. I could not lodged this earlier due to disturbances and curfew imposed in the area.

4. That I have received a sum of Rs. 2,500/- from the Govt. as compensation in respect of the loss of my shop and material lying there in.

5. That I humbly request that the orders may kindly be passed to compensate me fully for the loss suffered by me.
