Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, Karnal Singh, S/o Shree Nain Singh, aged 33 yrs., Advocate, R/o 57, Khizabad, New Friends Colony, New Delhi-110057, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1. That on 1st November, 84, at about 10:30 I was in my house in the village Khizabad at about 250 yrs., from the house of B-531, Commodore J.M.S. Sood (Retd.), when I heard that a mob was about to attack Commodore Sood's house. I ran to the spot and found Brig. A.L. Maria and some others already standing between the mob and the house. The mob was led by three men on a motor cycle I joined Brig. Maria and others and faced the mob.

2. That then the mob went away-led by the three men on the motor cycle to attack house of Shree Oberio. I remained guarding the house of Commodore Sood (B 53/NFC). Inspite of our respected requests and calls neither the fire brigade nor the police came to NFC to help us.

3. That I was well acquainted with Commodore Sood and his family, as he used to teach village lads and counsel then about their future.
