1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, Janaki Kaur, W/o Late S. Jorawar Singh, aged 50 yrs., R/o 13/331, Kalyanpuri, New Delhi-110091, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1. That I am staying at 13/331, Kalyanpuri, New Delhi-110091, since 1981.

2. That on 31st October, 84, at about 9 pm a mob attacked our house. I immediately left my house and took shelter in the house of Pandit ji, our neighbour, who is still living there. I remained hidden in the house of Pandit ji till 03-11-84.

3. That on 03-11-84, I was escorted by Police to 20 Block where I stayed in the house of S. Kundan Singh. I stayed there for 2 months.

4. That while I was hiding in Pandit ji's house my house was looted and later burnt. I lost all my household items worth Rs.50,000/-

5. That I received a paltry compensation of Rs.5,000/-

6. That I am a lonely widow without any source of livelihood. I humbly request that adequate compensation for the loss suffered by me may kindly be ordered.

7. That I request that a suitable job may kindly recommended for me.
