1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Inder Mohan Singh, aged 26 years, S/o S. Trilok Singh, resident of WZ. 63, Ram Nagar Extension, Tilak Nagar, New Delhi, solemnly affirm that :-

1. On 1st November, 1984 at about 12/12.30 on hearing some noise, I came out of my house and saw a mob of 150-200 persons advancing towards the Gurdwara. They set a 'Tarpaul' outside the Gurdwara on fire. On hearing more noise, some more people came out. Seeing them the mob stopped there.

2. A police jeep came after the mob and we thought that they had come to arrest the people forming the mob. Instead, the police beat us, took us to Tilak Nagar police station and confined us there.

3. We were abused and insulted at the police station. On our asking about the reason of being brought to the police station, they told us that you have murdered Indira Gandhi. We were not allowed to meet anyone nor were we given food or water. When we asked for water they told us to urinate and drink it. We were kept in police custody all night.

4. Next day we were produced in a Court at about 2 p.m. and were sent to jail on some false charge. Bail was not allowed to us for 9 to 10 days.

5. Instead of arresting the rioters, police arrested us and harassed us. Police was in collusion with the rioters.

6. Sardar Kirpal Singh was also present at the time of this happening and he was a witness to it.

7. Police kept on harassing me after this case. I was called to the police station on 8.8.85. They took my photograph and recorded full description.
