1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Harinder Singh son of Sardar Singh aged 38 years resident of A-3/364, Nand Nagri, Shahdara, Delhi-93 do hereby solemnly declared on oath that: -

1. I got my children admitted in Lady Harding Hospital on 20.10.84 and my children was to be operated upon, I and my wife were in the hospital. On 2.11.84 I took my children to our relatives' house at 3631, Pattu Pakwaan, Pahar Ganj, Delhi because there were riots.

2. On 4.11.84 when my wife went to Nand Nagri she found that our house had been burnt and looted and my brother and parents were not there. Then my wife lodged a complaint with the Police and enquired about my parents and brother. They told that my mother was at Nanaksar Gurdwara Camp, my father had died and nobody knew about my husband's younger brother. Then my wife brought my mother to Pahar Ganj. Later on, when somebody informed me that my brother is in Shyam Lal College Camp, my wife brought him too to Pahar Ganj.

3. My mother told me that the mob came to our house on, 3.11.84 at about 9 AM. They had iron rods, lathis, kerosene oil and white powder with them. They beat my father with lathis and then dragged him out of the house. Tejinder Singh, a driver who had sought shelter in our house and resides in our colony was also killed by lathis.

4. On 14.11.84 we went to our house in Nand Nagri. We still feel scared there because people there threaten us. I suffered a loss of Rs.2 lakhs.
