1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Harbinder Singh S/o Bir Singh, aged 27 yrs., R/o A/1642, Jahangirpuri, Delhi, at present residing at DDA Flats B/58, do hereby solemnly affirm and state as under: -

1. I was residing at A/1642, Jahangirpuri, Delhi, till November 1984, alongwith the members of my family; my father Bir Singh aged 55 yrs. my mother Sumita Devi aged 49 yrs., my wife Daljit Kaur aged 24 yrs. my brothers Gurjit Singh aged 22 yrs. and Babal Singh aged 15 yrs, my sisters Gursharan aged 19 yrs, Rinkal aged 16 yrs. and Roji aged 8 yrs, my daughter Mamta aged 3 yrs.

2. I was working in a fruit godown in Shalimar Bagh before the riots. On 1st November, 1984, I was going to the place of my work in a D.T.C. bus. On the way a group of people stopped the bus at Adarsh Nagar and asked me to get down. The crowd robbed me off my watch and my gold ring worth Rs.1,800/- plus Rs.1,800/- in cash. The mob beat me up, broke my leg. One of my friends took me away for first aid and brought me back home. I will be able to recognize my assailants by face, though I do not know their names.
