I, Harbans Kaur, W/o Late S. Piara Singh, aged 68 yrs., R/o A/81, Fateh Nagar, Jail Road, New Delhi-110018, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-
1. That my family was living in our house built on 300 yds. At RZ-H49, Raghubir Nagar, New Delhi-45. My husband was in Civil Aviation Dept., Safdar Jung Airport, New Delhi.
2. That at about 11 am on 1st Nov.'84, a violent mob of about 150 persons, well armed with lathis, iron rods etc. and carrying tins of kerocene raided our house.
3. That the mob broke down our outer gate and then broke down the doors of the rooms.
4. That they got hold of S. Piara Singh, my husband and started raining lathi and iron rod blows on him. I and my daughter Manjit Kaur pleaded with the attackers but we were thrust aside. In the attempt to save my husband, I received lathi and iron rod blow on my back. I was seriously injured.
5. That my daughter Manjit pulled me back. In the meantime the house had been looted and then kerosene was sprinkled on S. Piara Singh and in all the rooms and my husband, whilst still alive was set on fire.
6. That I, my daughter Manjit Kaur, and younger daughter in law Amrit Kaur, were threatened with rape and murder if we did not run away. I and my daughter and daughter in law ran away and managed some how to reach Janak Puri.
7. That I, my daughter and daughter in law stayed with some friends for 3 days, then shifted to Tilak Nagar for another 12/14 days. I lodged an FIR on 10/11/84, (copy attached). Then we rented a place in Moti Bagh, where we stayed for quite some time. We were penniless and could not repair our house.
8. That my property then worth 4.5 lakhs was completely destroyed and house hold goods including jewelry and ornaments worth 3/5 lakhs were looted. My property was surveyed by the Nagrik Ekta Munch and an application for grant of relief mentioning loss of property worth Rs.4.5 lakhs was registered with the Relief Commissioner at receipt No. 1970, dated 15/11/84.
9. That I have received compensation of Rs.1,000/- for household goods and property.
