I, Daropati, aged about 26 years, wife of Late Sardar Baldev Singh, r/o C-81, DDA Flats, Slum Tenements, Garhi, New Delhi, do hereby on solemn affirmation state and declare as under: -
1. Earlier I along with my family and father and mother-in-law were living in our Qrt. No.395/D-Block, St. No.7, Mangolpuri, Delhi-110083 at the relevant time.
2. On 1-11-84, about 200 Congress (I) workers of the area came to our house at 10 am and they starting abusing us and throwing brick-bats on the house of three Sikh families including my family living in the street. The local office of the Cong. (I) was nearby, so I could recognize them.
My father-in-law and my husband also told me that they were local Cong. (I) workers. After some time they left the place by hurling threats that they would not leave alive any Sikh. However, I had seen smoke coming out on all sides from the burning of the property.
3. On 2-11-84, one Cong. (I) worker called Chauhan of my street, openly declared that he would get killed the Sikhs in his street and asked the Hindus of St. No.6 that they should also get killed the Sikhs in their street.
4. At about 9.30 pm on 2-11-84, the mob of Non-Sikhs headed by Udhal and Tunda of E-Block, Balak Ram of D-Block, one Jat living in corner house of our street, one Mohammedan of St. No.6, D-Block, and several Cong.(I) workers of the area, came and attacked our house and houses of other Sikhs in the vicinity.
They broke open our house and first took out my father-in-law S. Joginder Singh and he was beaten on his head by iron rods by these assailants. When he fell down, but was screaming for mercy, they put kerosene oil on him and burnt him alive. Then Lakhbir Singh, brother of my husband was taken out and was also killed and burnt in the same manner.
Then thereafter, my husband Baldev was dragged out by them and was similarly beaten and burnt alive. Our both the 3-wheeler scooters were set on fire by them; then my house was looted and set on fire. I and my mother-in-law Mohinder Kaur went to Mangolpuri Police Station to lodge the report but the police official told us to get out of the police station, otherwise they would kill us. Our report was not written nor was any help given.
Action may be taken against the culprits and compensation be given.
