1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Amar Pal Singh, s/o S. Avtar Singh aged 38 years, r/o 2nd F/26, Lajpat Nagar II, New Delhi, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare on oath as under:-

1. That I am partner of M/s Sardar Tent House, 2nd F/26 Lajpat Nagar II, New Delhi.

2. That on 31st October, at about 10. 30 PM five or six tempo load of people came in our locality and shouted on Sikh houses and challenged the Sikh families to come out from houses. They were shouting slogans against the Sikhs and the Sikh houses were being pointed out by the local Congress (I) workers.

3. That I came to know from my Hindu neighbours that my shop"above named" has been looted. As all our family members were at our residence.

4. That I was told that a mob came from Rampul side broke open our shop, shutter and looted the goods comprising of Durries, Kanatas, Shamianas, Crockery, tables, chairs, decoration goods which are displayed at the marriage and other parties.

5. That after looting the shop they put it on fire and in the meantime our Hindu neighbours came out from their houses and asked the mob not to set fire. But they did not listen, after the mob left the shop, neighbours put off the fire and save our shop from fully burnt. There was one brother of Mr. Kamal of Fashion House and one boy named Titoo. Both Congress (I) workers guiding the mob and pointing out the Sikh houses and shops.
