Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Manakdeke

When Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji and Bhai Mardana arrived in Kanganpur the local villagers were extremely hostile and pelted stones at them.
At this Guru Nanak said to the people "Wasdey Raho" (be settled) and departed from here.
The Vann tree under which Guru Nanak stayed became known by the name of Mal Sahib. This tree is still there at Gurdwara Sri Mal Ji Sahib Kangan Pur.
Departing from Kanganpur Guru Nanak and Bhai Mardana walked 2 km's north and set foot in the village Manakdeke, also known as Manak Deki, to the site of Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Manakdeke.
The people of Manak Deki gave Guru Nanak and Bhai Mardana great honour and love, but Guru Nanak told them to leave the village and scatter. Bhai Mardana was surprised at this and asked, 'Why did you ask the villagers that abused us to stay settled and ask these good people to scatter?'
Guru Nanak explained, 'These people will spread virtue wherever they go after being scattered while the others will spread evil wherever they go. This is why it has been ordained for those to be settled and for these to be scattered.'
According to the local stories that the descendants of those who had pelted stones at Guru Nanak and Bhai Mardana suffer from gilhar (a throat related disease) and it is the only area in the whole of Punjab where people suffer from this ailment.
Manak Deki looks like a deserted place even today. The whole village was built with mud. People work in other cities. The Manji Sahib of Guru Nanak was built in baked bricks in a street outside the village facing the Government Primary School. Refugees from Mewat are living in it now. Once there used to be the Prakash of Guru Garanth Sahib since 1947 it has not taken place. The people of the town are still kind and loving.
