Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Chandigarh is known for the visit of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
In 1688, Guru Gobind Singh came to this site (it was a village at the time) when he was travelling from Paonta Sahib to Anandpur Sahib.
Guru Gobind Singh met Mata Raj Kaur here who was the wife of the disgraced Ram Rai. It is said Mata Raj Kaur came here after her husband Ram Rai had passed away.
In order to please Aurangzeb, Ram Rai (who was the son of Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji) changed Gurbani from 'Mitti Musalman Di' to 'Mitti Be-Imaan di'.
As a result, Guru Har Rai disowned his son, Ram Rai.
