Khiala Kalan is a village located 7 km's northeast of Mansa city in the State of Punjab.
There are 3 Historic Sikh Gurdwaras at Khiala Kalan.
When Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji visited this place, Guru Ji tied his horse to a Beri tree here and rested underneath.
When Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji arrived in Khiala Kalan, a brahman farmer was returning from his fields. Guru Ji asked him to arrange wood for fire. The brahman brought wood for fire and also a Chhanna (a big pot made of bronze) full of milk.
The milk was distributed among the Sikhs. Guru Ji blessed the brahman by saying, 'Your Pitchers will never be empty of milk'. The Chhanna is said to have been preserved by the followers of the brahman.
The villagers of Khiala Kalan told Guru Tegh Bahadur about the acute scarcity of water at the village. Guru Tegh Bahadur shot an arrow (Tir) and asked for a well to be dug where the arrow fell and for a Banyan tree to be planted there.
The arrow went to the other side of the village. The next morning, Guru Tegh Bahadur continued his journey. The villagers built a well at the place where the arrow had struck and were surprised to find sweet water. Since the well gave sweet water (Mittha Khuh in Punjabi), the Gurdwara was named as Gurdwara Sri Tirsar Mittha Khuh Sahib. The well still exists.
