Gurdwara Tap Asthan Pakki Sangat Sahib, situated in Allahabad marks the place where Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and his family stayed while travelling to the east.

Guru Tegh Bahadur came here along with Mata Gujari, Mata Nanaki, Mama Kirpal Das and other Sikhs. The local Sangat asked Guru Tegh Bahadur to stay for some time.

Guru Tegh Bahadur stayed here for about 6 months. Mata Nanaki (Guru Tegh Bahadur's mother) hoped for a grandchild and it was here that Guru Gobind Singh was conceived by Mata Gujari.

The continuous reading (Akhand Path Sahib) of Sri Guru Granth Ji was first started here by Five Sikhs Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, Bhai Dyala Ji, Bhai Gurbaksha Ji and Baba Gurditta Ji.

Later, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji stayed here for 5 days while travelling from Patna to Anandpur Sahib.

Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji also visited Allahabad, then called by its old name 'Prayag'.

The Gurdwara building reconstructed by Mahant Pritam Singh in 1965 stands about four feet above the street level. The sanctum is a flat-roofed rectangular congregation hall at the far end of a spacious square compound entered through a double storey gateway.

The Guru Granth Sahib is seated on a canopied throne of while marble. Two double storey blocks of rooms, one on either side of the courtyard, provide residential accommodation to staff and visitors.
