Mullowal is a village situated at a distance of 20 km east of Barnala City and 12 km west of Dhuri on the Barnala-Dhuri Road in the Sangrur district of the State of Punjab.

Gurdwara Sri Mitha Khooh Sahib

In 1663, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji visited Mullowal while travelling from village Rajo Majra during Guru Ji's tour of the Malwa region.

Guru Tegh Bahadur, and other Sikhs with Guru Sahib, camped near the village pond. Guru Tegh Bahadur tied his horse to a tree nearby.

When Guru Tegh Bahadur reached near a well in this village, Guru Ji asked for water. The villagers said that the water of the well was brackish and offered to bring water from elsewhere.

Guru Tegh Bahadur made the well water sweet, when the water was checked it was found to be sweet, therefore the name 'Gurdwara Sri Mitha Khooh Sahib'. The well still exists here.

Guru Tegh Bahadur asked the villagers to dig nine more wells. All the villagers sought Guru Ji's blessings, but the Chaudhry of the village named Gonda did not pay homage to Guru Ji.

Chaudhry Gonda was a follower of 'Sakhi Sarvar Pir', but when his wife asked him to pay homage to Guru Ji, he asked for forgiveness from Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Ji blessed him.

When the Gurdwara was rebuilt in 2009 one of the original bricks was found. The brick was marked with an 'Ik Onkar' symbol.

Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Mullowal

Guru Tegh Bahadur stayed here for 4 days and laid the foundation of the Gurdwara by laying 4 bricks.

Guru Ji blessed this place by saying whoever looks after this place, they would prosper. A brick of the original Gurdwara has been preserved here.

Guru Tegh Bahadur broke the arrogance of the village Chaudhry, distributed dastars to the villagers and said that those who remained as Sikhs would stay in Chardi Kala.

A Hukamnama believed to be written by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji has also been preserved here.

A man named Nigahi Singh gave Guru Gobind Singh a horse, as a result the family of Nigahi Singh was murdered. Mullowal was Nigahi Singh's nanke (materal grand parents home) and this was where Guru Gobind Singh travelled to meet him.
